From a financial perspective, briefly describe the concept of a business

Chapter 1:

Q1- From a financial perspective, briefly describe the concept of a business.  List and explain the differences between a business & pure charity.  Please respond to at least 2 classmates post.

Student 1:

Business is depending on buying and selling for profit. When a business is a personal or a company should determine goals that lead to develop the business and focus for the goal. In the other hand, Charity is depending on the provision of a range of humanitarian services to individuals in need. It is also known that a group of individuals, associations and institutions provide support and assistance to people with different needs, such as food, medicine and shelter, and others. Also, does not depend on achieving any financial gain; it is a work linked to good and charity to others.

Student 2:

My theory about business would be, business is a person or group of people idea about making an investment to improve his or their income. Charity is a person or more than one person is opinion to help others with some amount of money. Charity is helping others with their needs, and business is an idea of making more money.

Chapter 2:

Q2- If you could change ONE thing about our health care system, what would that be? Please provide detailed explanation.  Reply to the post of 2 classmates.

Student 1:

If I could change one thing in the U.S. health care system it would be that employer groups, payers, and government systems would all come together to make it simpler for Americans who are seeking health coverage. I am from a rural area in Kentucky and have seen so many people neglect their health because they could not go to certain providers and would have to travel hours to see a doctor in their network. These people know that they need to see a doctor, but may not be able to take off from work to travel to the doctors or may not have transportation to travel that far. This is a major reason that emergency rooms are overflowing with people because they have gone so long without seeing a doctor (because there are none in their network) so they can no longer stand the pain or sickness. I think if all providers could work together and be on the same playing field it would cut down costs and help people get the treatment they need in a timely manner.

Student 2:

If I could change one thing about the current health care system in America it would be accessibility for consumers. Accessibility to health care affects many different aspects of health care, such as health care cost, emergency room use, overall health of the nation, and many others. Many things affect one’s access to health care, including geographical location (rural vs. urban area), insurance coverage, and income. Improving the accessibility of health care can potentially lower total health care costs and even improve the overall health of the nation.

Consider the challenges of providing health care in underdeveloped countries.

What Can Nurses Do?

Many people, most of them in tropical countries of the Third World, die of preventable, curable diseases. . . . Malaria, tuberculosis, acute lower-respiratory infections—in 1998, these claimed 6.1 million lives. People died because the drugs to treat those illnesses are nonexistent or are no longer effective. They died because it doesn’t pay to keep them alive.
–Ken Silverstein, Millions for Viagra. Pennies for Diseases of the Poor, The Nation, July 19, 1999

Unfortunately, since 1998, little has changed. For many individuals living in impoverished underdeveloped countries, even basic medical care is difficult to obtain. Although international agencies sponsor outreach programs and corporations, and although nonprofit organizations donate goods and services, the level of health care remains far below what is necessary to meet the needs of struggling populations. Polluted water supplies, unsanitary conditions, and poor nutrition only exacerbate the poor health prevalent in these environments. Nurses working in developed nations have many opportunities/advantages that typically are not available to those in underdeveloped countries. What can nurses do to support their international colleagues and advocate for the poor and underserved of the world?

In this Discussion, you will consider the challenges of providing health care for the world’s neediest citizens, as well as how nurses can advocate for these citizens.

To prepare:

  • Consider the challenges of providing health care in underdeveloped countries.
  • Conduct research in the Walden Library and other reliable resources to determine strategies being used to address these challenges.
  • Using this week’s Learning Resources, note the factors that impact the ability of individuals in underdeveloped nations to obtain adequate health care.

·       Describe of the sector’s historical development and current role in healthcare delivery.

Hello, I am looking for someone to write my Portfolio Project paper that is due next Saturday. The paper is for my class in HCM310: Introduction to the U.S. Healthcare System. See below for paper direction:

Assignment Option 1: The U.S. Healthcare System: Analysis of a Healthcare Sector

Your portfolio assignment focuses on a specific sector of healthcare and its relation to the current U.S. healthcare system. Choose one of the healthcare sectors listed below for your portfolio assignment:

•    Hospitals

•    Long-term Care

•    Mental and Behavioral Health

•    Ambulatory Care

•    For-Profit/Public Health Care.

Write a ten to twelve page paper where you address the following:

·       Describe of the sector’s historical development and current role in healthcare delivery.

·       Explain how the political influence in the U.S. healthcare system impacts how this sector provides healthcare to specific communities.

·       Evaluate how quality, safety, and competition within this healthcare sector impact patient care.

·       Examine what major challenges exist for this sector for the system over the next decade from healthcare reform and other factors. Discuss a minimum of three challenges and offer your recommendations on how healthcare leaders and administrators can manage them.

·       Provide a conclusion summary of your findings and of the project experience.

Your paper should meet the following requirements:

·       Be ten to twelve pages in length, not including the cover or reference pages

·       Be formatted according to the CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements

·       Provide support for your statements with in-text citations from a minimum of eight scholarly references – four of these references must be from outside sources and four may be from course readings, lectures, and textbooks. The CSU-Global Library is a good place to find these references.

Utilize the following headings to organize the content in your work.

•    Introduction

•    Historical Development and Current Role in Healthcare Delivery

•    Political Influence

•    Quality, Safety, and Competition

•    Future Challenges and Issues

•    Recommendations

•    Conclusion

•    What research was conducted and/or analyzed to determine the need for the policy?

For the wrap-up of this course, it’s time to weave together the knowledge that you have gained; the goal of this project is to integrate the previous Critical Thinking assignments into an interconnected exploration of a specific healthcare policy.

For the Portfolio Project, you will complete a two-part assignment (further explained below).   Create the documents in the vein of a presentation that you might share with a community group that is having a policy explained for the first time; pretend that the group has no knowledge of what happens behind the scenes to create and implement a healthcare policy.  You will not actually be required to present this to a group, but prepare the project so that it would be acceptable for an audience of that nature.

The two documents are as follows:

·       A mind map (via the Text 2 Mind Map site) depicting the essential points and sub-points of your topic. Think of the mind map as a visual outline that addresses the questions listed below.

·       A narrative explanation that covers the rationale, research, and processes involved in creating this healthcare policy. The narrative essay should serve as the commentary to accompany the mind map if it were being presented to the group mentioned above; it should be 4-5 pages in length.

Reference the content here and all previous assignments before making your selection below.

Instructions:

In this Portfolio Project, you will analyze a national and global healthcare policy.  Select a specific federal healthcare policy (other than the Affordable Care Act) to review. Provide information related to the following points:

•    What was the name and introduction process of the original policy?

•    What research was conducted and/or analyzed to determine the need for the policy?

•    How was the policy promoted or lobbied against at the federal level?

•    What is the impact, or intended impact, of the policy? Consider the viewpoints of multiple stakeholders, and include financial impact.

•    How does this policy affect other healthcare policies?

•    Explain any moral or ethical implications of this policy.

•    Are any other countries currently working toward a similar policy or has another country successfully passed a similar policy?  Is the process similar or different?

Adhere to the following standards:

•    The narrative should be 4-5 pages in length, not including the title or references pages.

•    Review the grading rubric, which can be accessed from the Week 8 Folder.

•    Be sure to follow the CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements.

•    Support your interpretation with evidence from at least four peer-reviewed journal articles, other than the article provided here. It’s helpful to search for articles from the CSU-Global Library.

•    When you complete the Mind Map, you will be given a web address specifically created for the map. Type this web address at the top of the first page of your narrative, and then submit. Note that you will be given a web address, as well as a view-only web address. The first address, which is not view-only, is the one that should be submitted.

which areas of the organization seem to be doing well, and which ones are most in need of improvement?

  • Based on this scorecard, which areas of the organization seem to be doing well, and which ones are most in need of improvement? What are your grounds for concluding this? Summarize what these scorecard indicators say about this organization in comparison with its peer organizations (e.g., the Custom Compare Group).
  • Consider the selection of metrics for this scorecard. Do you think this scorecard will provide managers and administrators with a balanced view of the organization’s performance? Explain why or why not. Suggest adding and/or deleting any metrics and provide a rationale for doing so.
  • Review the scenario and consider these details in connection with the scorecard data. Propose a significant, yet plausible strategic goal for this organization. Then identify 2–3 metrics the organization should focus on to help them meet this goal. Are these metrics in the scorecard already? If so, which ones are they? If not, which metrics would you add to the scorecard to help leadership monitor this strategic goal?

What do you feel are the most important disparities that need to be addressed in the healthcare industry? How do the disparities affect individuals in terms of healthcare and what do you feel is the best course of action to remedy each disparity and why

Cultural Diversity and Teamwork in Healthcare Ethics

Consider the scenarios given below and answer the questions listed after each scenario. Justify your answers with appropriate research and reasoning.

Scenario 1

In the past, paternalism among healthcare providers was an accepted way of practicing medicine. Patients sought care from physicians and accepted their opinions and treatment choices without question. However, in today’s healthcare industry, there has been a shift away from paternalism as patients become active in their treatment choices and work as a team with their healthcare professionals. In the light of these facts, answer the following questions:

  • What do you feel has caused this shift and why?
  • Do you think this shift is for the better? How do you think this team approach to care can affect a patient’s care choices?

Scenario 2

With increasing diversity in the United States, a question has arisen regarding what accommodations should be made to assist the diverse population. Some groups or individuals feel in order to address the increasingly diverse population; we must employ a medical staff that is reflective of a community’s population. For example, if half of the population in a community is Hispanic, the medical office staff should be comprised of Hispanic workers.

  • Do you agree or disagree with this solution for addressing diversity in healthcare and why or why not? How would you address these diversity issues of the Unites States?
  • In the United States healthcare system, disparities such as socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic can be found. What do you feel are the most important disparities that need to be addressed in the healthcare industry? How do the disparities affect individuals in terms of healthcare and what do you feel is the best course of action to remedy each disparity and why
