3.    Describe the purpose, function, and mechanisms of the CER Model you recommend.

I have the following Case study, it is simply a memo to a perspective employer.  Doesn’t require citations or references. But needs to be in APA format.

You will be graduating from college soon with a degree in healthcare management. You are considering different career choices and would like to work for the government. You are thinking of applying to both state and local health departments but are unsure of what types of activities you may be involved with as a healthcare manager. You will present a memo to your potential employer on comparative effectiveness research (CER) recommendations and efforts toward one of the models described in the text: Restrictions of the Introduction and Dissemination of Technology, Restrictions of Choice of Treatment Procedures, Restrictions on Choices of Provider, Quality Improvement, and Cost Savings.

1.    Using the internet, look up the state and local health departments in Rhode Island and provide a brief overview of their activities.

2.    Discuss the role that state and local health departments have in healthcare.

3.    Describe the purpose, function, and mechanisms of the CER Model you recommend.

4.    Identify the benefits of implementing this CER system.

What are the possible liability issues that the younger Dr. Cole is exposing the facility to?

I need 1-2 page answer of the following discussion. Must include 1-2 scholarly references. Your answer must be 100% original.

Scenario:

You are the CEO of Acme Hospital, a small rural facility. On your staff, there is a physician (OB-GYN), Dr. Thomas Cole, with whom you have been having some problems. Dr. Cole:

·         does not finish his morning rounds on a regular basis

·         does not attend medical staff meetings

·         often very late in arriving to deliver babies

·         most of the time, the nurses on duty in the delivery room deliver the majority of Dr. Cole’s babies

You know that these issues must be addressed but there are other connecting problems.

·         First, Dr. Cole is the son of Dr. Frederick Cole who just retired after 55 years of service with Acme Hospital.

·         “Dr. Fred” was much beloved among hospital staff and before he left, he used his charm and status to make certain staff members (you were not one) promise to help and to protect his son, the younger Cole.

You know that when you begin raising these issues there will likely be resistance to take any action.

Discussion:

Considering the above scenario, please discuss the following:

What are the possible liability issues that the younger Dr. Cole is exposing the facility to? How would you manage the staff that promised to help the younger Dr. Cole? Would you approach the elder Dr. Cole? Why or why not? Is this a problem that can be “fixed”? If so, how can it be fixed? Are you willing to give the younger Dr. Cole the time to “fix” the issues as the CEO?

Analyze and discuss possible solutions to these challenges

Many different topics are covered within this course. Select one area of health information management/informatics that interests youmaking sure your topic is broad enough for you to write 8-10 pages. You will also want to do a library search to make sure that you can find at least 10 good sources to help you research your topic. At the end of Week 3, you will be required to submit your topic for approval by the instructor.

Once your topic has been approved, you should immediately begin writing an 8- to 10-page research paper addressing the following topics. Your completed paper is due at the end of Week 8.

  • How this topic relates to the field of health information management/informatics
  • Identify the challenges seen in the application of this topic
  • Analyze and discuss possible solutions to these challenges
  • Discuss how this topic could help to promote or grow the professional field of health information management/informatics

For a list of possible topics, clickon the Portfolio Project Topics link below.

Be sure your paper is 8-10 pages long, includes a title page, is double spaced, and has 1-inch margins. You must cite at least 10 sources using CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements. The CSU-Global library is a great place to find these sources!

Overall Score

Explain what you will do to ensure you achieve your objectives by the end of your practicum.

In Week 1, you developed your practicum professional development objectives. How have your experiences thus far in the practicum contributed to your growth as nurse leader-manager or nurse informaticist? What difficulties, if any, have you experienced, and how might this affect the achievement of your objectives?

In this Discussion, you assess your progress toward fulfilling your practicum professional development objectives and consider how you could enhance or alter your activities to achieve your aims.

To prepare:

  • Reflect on the practicum professional development objectives you developed and outlined in your Practicum Professional Experience Plan in Week 1.
  • Keeping in mind the practicum activities you have engaged in thus far, consider the following questions:
    • How have these activities helped to promote your professional development?
    • Are you satisfied with your progress toward meeting your objectives? If not, what will you do to ensure you achieve them before the end of your Practicum Experience? As a reminder, you must complete all of your practicum hours on or before Day 5 of Week 11.
    • What challenges or unexpected opportunities have arisen at your practicum site? How has this affected your professional development?
  • Think about the experiences you may have in the forthcoming weeks. Do you foresee any particular challenges on the horizon? If so, what is your plan for addressing those challenges?
  • Think about the time you have spent with your Preceptor. How has this time enhanced or changed your understanding of the role and functions of the nurse leader-manager or nurse informaticist?

Post on or before Day 3 an assessment of your progress toward achieving your practicum professional development objectives, including how your involvement in specific practicum activities has contributed to your development. Explain what you will do to ensure you achieve your objectives by the end of your practicum. Summarize challenges or unexpected opportunities that have arisen, as well as any challenges that you anticipate may arise. Explain how you will address those challenges. Finally, summarize what you have learned about the role and functions related to your specialization through time spent with your Preceptor.
