During your practicum, determine what clinical problem or issue the   organization is facing. Discuss two implications for nursing.

The biggest problem or issue is staffing. The turn-over rate is incredibly high and there is never enough staff to provide satisfactory patient care.

What is the main issue for your organization in addressing a solution   to evidence-based nursing practice? Discuss what might be the first   step in addressing and resolving this issue.

One solution would be to stop hiring anybody just to have a warm body available. Maybe advertise job openings in different places, attend career fairs, or visit and recruit from nursing schools. Also, offer better pay rates, benefits, and/or bonuses.

How will you use      design thinking to begin to brainstorm about your capstone?

Design Thinking Script (This Script will be the beginning of my capstone project)

Reflect on the content covered throughout the entire course.

Utilizing what you learned about design thinking this week, create a script that can be used to create a voice-over presentation or video in Week Six.

Review the Capstone rubric and Capstone: It’s Not Scary slide presentation. Your script should include:

  • During this course, I came across x.
  • I see opportunity for improvement at my organization in      x.
  • I might want to focus my capstone on these one to three      areas.
  • How will this relate to the end user? Consider      consumer-centrism.

Consider      methods that were used to garner the support of stakeholders and decision      makers to move the project forward.

HIT Projects and Decision Makers
A nurse leader sought to implement greater security in the children’s wing of the hospital by installing a new alarm and monitoring system. Due to budget constraints, the CNO rejected the proposal, stating that current security methods were sufficient. Shortly after this failed proposal, an individual did in fact breach the children’s wing security and abducted a young child. Thankfully, the child was found and returned to her parents; and the CNO quickly found the money to install the new security system.
Not all HIT projects have such high-profile stakes. The main takeaway from this example is the importance of getting key stakeholders and decision makers on board when planning a new HIT project.
To prepare:

  • Bring      to mind a HIT project implemented in your organization. Which leaders      identified the project? Which stakeholders and decision makers helped      moved the project forward?
  • Consider      methods that were used to garner the support of stakeholders and decision      makers to move the project forward.

By tomorrow Wednesday 09/20/17, write a minimum of 550 words essay in APA format with a minimum of 3 references from the list in the instructions area. Include the level one headings as numbered below:

post a cohesive response that addresses the following:

1) Describe an example of a HIT project implemented at your organization and analyze how that project was identified and moved forward. (HIT stands for Health Information Technology, pick one that was implemented in the hospital. One project that comes to my mind is when my hospital upgraded their EHR system from MEDITECH to EPIC system).

2) Evaluate the impact of key decision makers on moving the HIT project forward.

Describe the website you have chosen, and then explain how it does (or does not) perform the criteria you established above.

Write a 750-1,000 word review of a website about ADD or ADHD. You will write this review for the general public, so you might target a particular publication, such as a student or local newspaper or one of the national magazines. This will help you anticipate what your readers already know, what they value, and what criteria they accept as a basis of evaluation. Complete the following:

1. Develop a set of criteria that the general public would see as acceptable for a website about diseases and disorders (like ADHD).

2. Describe the website you have chosen, and then explain how it does (or does not) perform the criteria you established above.

3. Use at least two scholarly sources outside of class texts to augment your understanding and perspective on these facts and elements. Use the GCU library for sources. Include this research in the paper in an appropriate scholarly manner.

Then, identify how you would adapt Lewin’s classic model of change based on chaos and complexity theory to address this evidence–based change.

Post a description of the problem, including relevant indicator(s). Provide a synopsis of how you would proceed in locating evidence, including research literature you would consult, which professional organization standards may be relevant, and with whom you would communicate or network to ascertain community standards. Then, identify how you would adapt Lewin’s classic model of change based on chaos and complexity theory to address this evidence–based change.

Discuss current research that links patient safety outcomes to ADN and BSN nurses. Based on soe real-life experiences, do you agree or disagree with this research?

Discuss current research that links patient safety outcomes to ADN and BSN nurses. Based on soe real-life experiences, do you agree or disagree with this research?

According to current research there has been continuing evidence linking the benefits of BSN degree nurses when comparing ADN prepared. According to a study by Linda Aiken it was found that hospitals who had a 60% of nurses BSN prepared there was a 30% less mortality rate. This was compared to  only 30% less mortality rate when only 30% of the nurses had BSN degrees (The Sentinal Watch, 2014). Healthcare has many issues that need to be addressed in the coming years such as CLABSI, hospital acquired infection and medication errors ( The Sentinal Watch, 2014). Nurses who have acquired their BSN are trained better to deal with these problems. The extra 2 years of training allows for the important teachings related to leadership and evidence based practice (The Sentinal Watch, 2014).

The Importance of getting your BSN cannot be underestimated, in my opinion the extra schooling gets nurses more acclimated with research, this helps them see the issues that face healthcare today. Nurses who have only their Associates degree lack the important aspects of research and leadership training. Todays healthcare system needs nurses who can overcome the many challenges they will be faced with. I believe we need at least 90% of nurses to have their BSN. With rising costs that are not associated with better outcomes trained nurses are our best option to fix the healthcare system.

Does the research question involve a       comparison of groups or the relationship of variables?

There are many different methods for analyzing quantitative data; each method is dependent on the type of data gathered as well as the research question being addressed. The first step in analyzing data is to determine what kind of data you have—the level of measurement. Determining the level of measurement is a method of classifying the variables within a research study. Classifying a variable into its appropriate level of measurement helps a researcher determine the most appropriate statistical analysis for those data and to interpret the data the variable generates.

In this Discussion, you identify independent and dependent variables in your research problem, which you identified in the Week 2 Discussion. You classify these variables into their appropriate levels of measurement and determine suitable ways of analyzing the data generated by each variable.

To prepare:

  • Review the materials presented in Chapter 1 of      the Polit textbook.
  • Consider Dr. Pothoff’s comments in this week’s      media presentation on data analysis.
  • Recall your research problem statement      developed for the Week 2 Discussion. Based on your problem statement,      develop a research question to address the problem.
  • Ask yourself:

  • Does the research question involve a       comparison of groups or the relationship of variables?
  • How many independent variables do I have?       Dependent variables? What are they?
  • Is the independent variable categorical or       continuous?
  • Is the dependent variable categorical or       continuous?
  • What might be the advantages, or       disadvantages, of each variable’s level of measurement?

By tomorrow Thursday 09/20/17, 8 am, write a minimum of 550 words essay in APA format with a minimum of 3 references from the list in the instructions area. Include the level one and two headings as numbered and lettered below:

Post a cohesive summary of the following:

1) Post your research question. (formulate a research question based on “the nursing shortage” assignment u did for me last week – See attached file) it must be using “PICO”

a) Describe the independent and dependent variables

2) Identify the level of measurement of both the independent and dependent variables.

b) Provide a brief rationale for your classification of each variable.

3) Discuss considerations of analyzing data related to each variable based on its level of measurement.

c) Identify any advantages or challenges you might encounter in your statistical analysis of each variable.
