Unit 4 Discussion 1 – Goals and Objectives
Riverbend City is a community that needs assistance with food insecurity. The program that is working on this has established a few goals and objectives to demonstrate what they plan to accomplish. “Goals establish a general direction for a program. Objectives establish precise expectations of what the program is attempting to achieve, including a time frame” (Kettner, et.al., 2015).
Need 1: More natural food than processed
Goal 1: To teach families in the community of Riverbend City on what is a nutritious meal versus a processed meal.
Objective 1: By the end of the next fiscal year, be partnered with 20% of the businesses in Riverbend City to do short workshops for their employees on this topic.
Goal 2: To teach participants in the community of Riverbend City learn how to grow their own food at home or in the community garden.
Objective 2: By the end of the next fiscal year, build classes that families ca attend to learn about growing their own food in Riverbend City by surveying those who attend.
Need 2: Being able to serve more people in the community.
Goal 1: To assist participants in the community of Riverbend in receiving food for their family, by going to them instead of them coming to the program.
Objective 1: By the end of next fiscal year, be partnered with 20% of the businesses in Riverbend City to have a time where workers can attend the portable food pantry at their job.
Goal 2: To enable counseling services to speak with families about services they can get in the community to possible not need to depend on food pantry.
Objective 2: By the end of the next fiscal year, offer counseling services, in person, virtual or on the phone to discuss services available with an increase of 30% attendance from the community.
