Team 1 Project Synopsis

Team 1 will conduct an in-depth analysis of the Nessus tool. During this analysis the team will document the features and functionality of the Nessus tool. Additionally the team will call out any short comings that are found. General use cases will be evaluated to determine where the Nessus tool provides value. Lastly a demonstration of the Nessus tool will be preformed as a part of the final project presentation.

At a minimum, the paper should use the following section headings:

  • History of the tool
  • How the tool is used
  • Detailed description of the options available in the tool
  • Advantages and disadvantages of the tool
  • Screencast video of selected tool.
  • Written Deliverable: (An APA formatted template is attached for your convenience, please use it.)
    • Use the same font throughout the report, such as 12-point Times New Roman
      • Charts or Tables may use 10-point if needed
      • NOTE: Full-page illustrations are not counted as a page (may be an Appendix, after the References page).
    • Minimum: 10 pages (main body)
    • Maximum: 12 pages (main body)
    • Title page:
      • Start page numbering in upper right corner
      • Title of paper
      • Team member names
      • Affiliation
      • Course number and course name
      • Instructor name
      • Assignment Due Date
    • Table of Contents (this is a class requirement)
    • Abstract Page:
      • One paragraph (double spaced)
      • Not indented
      • No longer than one page, preferably around 150 words
    • Main body (does not include title, TOC, abstract, or references):
      • 1 inch margins on all sides and Double spaced (no extra spacing before or after)
      • Research the selected option
        • Use the section headings listed in the Option you selected
        • Include other section to enhance your paper
    • Last page(s): List of APA formatted References
      • Beginning on a new page
      • Listed alphabetically
      • Minimum of 5 credible references, at least three published within the last two years
      • There needs to be at least one in-text citation for every reference!
  • Power Point presentations requirements . Each team will submit a recording or link to a recording (Either a PowerPoint Voice Over, Kaltura, YouTube, or any other format the students choose). Please make sure the Instructor can review the recording/link with no permission issues.For the presentation, your audience is the executive board of CYB608 Corp. They are non-technical managers; although they have a basic understanding of pentesting. You only have approximately ten (10) minutes on their monthly meeting agenda, so make your presentation content relevant to this audience.Prepare a presentation based on the paper:
    • Time limit 8-12 minutes (remember, this is a summary, not a detailed presentation!)
    • Plan for approximately 1 – 2 minutes per slide (no more than 12 slides!)
      • Title slide with title and team member’s names (not counted in slide limit)
      • Agenda
      • Cover the major points mentioned in the Option you selected
      • Ensure any graphics (i.e., screen shots) are large enough to be easily readable
      • References (APA format, alphabetically, on the last slide (not counted in slide limit))
    • Every team member must record a portion, however the length of time each member presents can be decided by the team
    • Avoid reading the slides to the audience
    • Practice as if this were your capstone presentation
    • Do not crowd the slide with text
    • If possible, do not use fonts smaller than size 24.
