Computer Science Homework Help

CPSC 4530 University of Tennessee COVID and Data Visualization Discussion Paper

In this final project, each student is asked to identify a particular domain of interest, and explore the capacity of interactive data visualization in telling a story of the identified domain by disclosing the phenomena/trends/outliers of the domain.

To do the project, students should:

PREFER PYTHON CODE

Read Chapters 11-13 of the required textbook: Visualization Analysis and Design, by Tamara Munzner.

If possible, read Chapters 11-12 of the supplemental textbook: Interactive Data Visualization: Foundations, Techniques, and Applications, Second Edition, by Matthew O. Ward. (Slides available on Canvas)

Identify a specific domain of interest and at least three different related datasets (see possible data sources provided in the syllabus). To tell a story of the identified domain, the datasets should be identified and organized in a storytelling way, meaning that the datasets need to be thematically related with each other instead of being totally independent.

Conduct interactive visualization of the datasets by using python software tools, platforms, or programming languages.

Write a lengthy (15+ pages, 1.5 line space, font size 11 or 12, with 1″ margins on white 8.5″ x 11″ paper), detailed, and professional written report. The report should:

1.Specify the selected application domain;

2.Introduce the motivation for data visualization and exploration in the selected domain;

3.Describe the identified datasets (source, data type, data records, attributes, dimension);

4.Describe the software/platform/programming packages/libraries used for the visualizations;

5.Snapshots of interactive visualization results;

6.Discussion of patterns/trends/outliers observed from the interactive visualizations about the domain;

7.Reference (if applicable)
