Sample Crime:
Bonnie Jones was murdered in her home last Summer. According to his arrest warrant, her husband Stuart provided an elaborate explanation of the day’s events, claiming that he returned home after receiving an alarm alert. Stuart went on to claim that, upon entering his house, he was immobilized and tortured by an intruder. He told police that the intruder then shot and killed Bonnnie when she returned home from the gym. Relying on evidence collected from Bonnie’s Fitbit, police were able to show that she had been in the house at the time Stuart said she was at the gym. According to Fitbit’s data, Bonnie stopped moving one minute before the home alarm went off.

Assignment:
Digital investigators, forensic examiners, and attorneys work together to scale these steps from bottom to top in a systematic, determined manner in an effort to present a compelling story after reaching the final step of persuasion/testimony.  You, as the digital investigator has been called to be involved in this case.  Using the Starecase Model along with your colleagues, what can you provide to the case?
