Most organizations want to ensure there will be enough space to add data with the expansion of their business. In order to do this, there are things that should be considered.
1. How user-friendly the system will be and the suitability from the user’s perspective with different levels of permissions for teams and personnel.
2. Visual analyzing and displaying results for information.
3. Security of sensitive data and personal information that is being stored and adherence to regulations of storing information.
4. This must be functional for extracting and filtering data, analysis, modeling, forecasting, visualization, and managing ROI (return of investment).
5. The database needs to be able to frequently update information automatically.
Start by creating the database strategy by gathering pertinent information that will go into the database such as business plans and goals.
- Determine the type of data
- Note strengths of the current system.
- Show import data and relationships.
Define the scope of the database and future users and identify major areas of the database, create database requirements document by describing the details of how the data will be used and generated and additional requirements for the new database.
The database design usually occurs in 3 stages:
- Conceptual
- logical
- and physical design.
DBMS
- Designing database application
- Create database
- Test the database
- Implement database and application
- Convert legacy data and load into new database
- Conduct interviews involve management and employees by limiting the number of individuals interviewed and interview management separately from users because of the different perspectives they have in the organization and provide topics of discussion.
The application interface is critical because it needs to support efficiency for being easy to use by providing clear instructions, consistency, labeling, enough room to enter data, detailing error messages, indicate optional fields and note completion messages to inform the user they have successfully completed the data operation.
