Device 1 (laptop/desktop)
Device Type: laptop/desktop/something else
Manufacturer: Dell
Model: G3 15 P89F (you can usually find them on a sticker in the back, or other places inside computer)
Operating System: Windows 10 Home
CPU: Intel i5 9300H @2.4GHz
RAM: 16GB
Storage: 240GB SSD, 120GB SSD
How are you connected to the internet: Wi-Fi? Ethernet?
Internet speed: run speedtest on speedtest.net and run a speedtest (CLICK ON GO, don’t click on ads!)
Speedtest 1: “XX Mbps download, XX Mbps upload”
Speedtest 2: XX down/XX up
Speedtest 3: XX/XX
Anything interesting about this device?: This was a cheap gaming laptop with decent CPU that was great for flight sim games because its cooling fan at 100% CPU was about the same as a small plane taking off. Dell pushed firmware updates that toned down its fan speed, and now it’s much quieter.
Device 2 (mobile devices)
Device Type: Smartphone/tablet
Manufacturer: Apple
Model: XR
Operating System: iOS 14.4
Storage Capacity: 64GB
How is it connected?: 4G LTE? 3G? Wi-Fi? Or combination?
Internet speed: run 3 sets of speedtest on speedtest.net and record its results (CLICK ON GO, don’t click on ads!) –
Speedtest 1: “XX Mbps download, XX Mbps upload”
Speedtest 2: XX down/XX up
Speedtest 3: XX/XX
Any interesting facts/story about them?: Bought it during black Friday sale which made it half-priced, and it’s been dropped multiple times but have been okay thanks to a Otterbox case.
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi SSID: name of the Wi-Fi access point you’re connected to…e.g. “joe’s home Wi-Fi”
Wi-Fi password: JUST KIDDING…don’t ever post passwords ANYWHERE PUBLIC.
Can you physically locate your router & identify its make, model, specs? If at school, it may be up on a wall or somewhere outside your room with antennas sticking out.
ISP: who is your internet service provider? if unsure, can you find what ISPs are available in your address?
Modem: Pick a modem from the list of compatible models from your internet service provider – post a link of the list, picture of what it looks like, and its specs. (e.g. https://support.sparklight.com/hc/en-us/articles/115009158227-Supported-Cable-Modems-Residential-Only (Links to an external site.) )
