CMSC 495 University of Maryland Importance of the Artificial Intelligence Response
Respond to Epigmenio:
Artificial intelligence (AI) is an empty brain before it is taught anything. The human is the one who gives this brain knowledge and creates a certain personality when making decisions. However, sometimes those decisions can be very unethical and biased towards certain individuals when it needs to make a decision. However, the AI is not the one to blame as they are only doing what they are taught to do. The owner or team are the ones to blame as they are the ones who have taught the AI to make decisions on these prejudice guidelines.
Although AI should be used to make decisions based on what they are taught, sometimes personal ethics are integrated onto the AI that are prejudice in nature. There should be only the qualifying factors asked when creating an AI. If monthly/yearly income are the only requirements used to decide whether the individual is qualified to receive a credit card, race and gender should never be included in part of the decision-making process.
