Law homework help
Law homework help. Introduction
A capitalist economy such as the U.S. is based on the freedom of economic entities—individuals and organizations—to make decisions in pursuit of their economic goals. The government has a limited regulatory role. Such a system needs a framework of law that protects the rights of economic entities. To maintain economic freedoms, laws are restricted to harmful actions defined as crimes. To prevent inappropriate actions that are not crimes, people and businesses need to work within a code of ethics. Ethics and law together ensure the economic freedoms of a capitalist society are not curtailed or abused.
The textbook reading for this week provides you with an overview of business ethics and the US legal system.
Assignment 1: Discussion—Economic Freedom and Laws
Capitalism means economic freedom and laws imply restrictions. These concepts may appear to be opposites but are not. Laws protect freedoms by penalizing behavior that curtails or violates people’s rights. Reflect on the relationship between economic freedom and laws and respond to the following:
• In what way do laws enable or facilitate businesses to operate and grow in a capitalist society?
• What problems might the absence of such laws pose?
Write your initial response in 2–3 paragraphs. Apply APA standards to citation of sources
Assignment 2: Ethics and Law
Ethics and law, though related, are different concepts. Ethics is about right and wrong and can be personal or social. Laws have the coercive power of the state behind them and are more restricted in scope than ethics. Discuss ethics and law in relation to the creative field. Use the following questions to guide you:
• What are the areas of creative work where ethics and law converge?
• What are some areas of divergence between ethics and law in the creative field?
• Give an example of an action or behavior that is ethical but not legal.
• Give an example of an action or behavior that is unethical but legal.
Write a 2–3-page essay in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources
