Chapter 1 John Stuart Mill Karl Marx and John Maynard Keynes Essay

John Stuart Mill writes on the Stationary State. Karl Marx writes on the future of the bourgeoisie and the proletariat in the Communist Manifesto. John Maynard Keynes depicts his vision of the future in Economic Possibilities for our Grandchildren. Each of these pieces illustrate the writers vision of our contemporary society. In some instances they would agree and in some instances they are vastly differing in their view.

You should now be familiar with each of these three pieces. Begin by describing the tone of each piece. Are the authors optimistic, pessimistic, or ambivalent about the state of the future. What evidence or intuition does the author use to support their prediction. Describe the accuracy of each of piece in the context of contemporary society by navigating the nuance of each piece.
