Purdue University Indianapolis The Disinformation Playbook Discussion
I’m stuck on a Micro Economics question and need an explanation.
In today’s lecture on externalities, I gave the example of how the chemical industry sowed disinformation about the impacts of CFCs on the ozone layer and the environment. This is not a new phenomenon. The tobacco industry was already spreading disinformation as far back as the 1950s about the health consequences of smoking. Since then their playbook has been used by science deniers to sow doubts on the science behind the ozone hole, acid rain, second-hand smoke, and climate change just to name a few.
Please read the following document by the Union of Concerned Scientists to learn more about these deceptive practices:

As with previous assignments, please enlist the collaboration of at least one acquaintance in discussing this document with you. Do these “plays” sound familiar? Had you heard these deceptive arguments anywhere? Read at least 3 cases studies linked on the UCS page and comment on what you learned. As always, I am looking for evidence of critical thinking on your part.
