Integrated Arts Dance Assignment
 
After viewing the clip from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake (youtube Swan Lake Rudolph Nureyev and Margo Fonteyn act 3) and the biographic video of Martha Graham (youtube Martha Graham in performance) write two to three paragraphs discussing the different dance styles presented in each video.
What has Ms. Graham done to the traditional, classical ballet style.  Describe Ms. Graham’s approach and style and dance.
Considering each style (classical and modern) compare and contrast them pointing out their similarities and differences.  Address body movement in each style, the subject of each, type of typical costume for both male and female in each, how is mood expressed in each, are all movements fluid in each.  How do the different dancers respond to the music in each style.
