Campbellsville University Wireless Mobile Networks Discussion & Responses

In discussion 5, we looked at networks in general; however, in this discussion we’re looking at wireless networks, mostly focusing on mobile networks.  Mobile networks in a global economy can be a challenge for multiple reasons.  First, governments in other countries control the mobile networks.  Second is the technology.  Mobile networks in other countries might not be as good as the mobile networks within the US.  As a global company, how can we deal with this?  With a big push for 5G, which has speeds well over 2Gbps, how does that change the way you do business?  What are some things you need to think about when it comes to doing business globally, using a wireless mobile network?

Please make your initial post and two response posts substantive. A substantive post will do at least two of the following:

  • Ask an interesting, thoughtful question pertaining to the topic
  • Answer a question (in detail) posted by another student or the instructor
  • Provide extensive additional information on the topic
  • Explain, define, or analyze the topic in detail
  • Share an applicable personal experience
  • Provide an outside source (for example, an article from the UC Library) that applies to the topic, along with additional information about the topic or the source (please cite properly in APA)
  • Make an argument concerning the topic.

According to various studies and research, it was found out that around 1-1.2 billion people around the world will have access to 5G and its related services and solutions. The introduction of 5G will not only provide improved speeds and secure networks but will also lead to the introduction and integration of various IoT devices and solutions as well and enhance and improve operations and processes in various industries and sectors. The technology of 5G will open up a new era of the internet that will lead to the direct connection of one person to another around the world and its full benefits will be realized around the year 2035 (Bob, 2020).

The technology of 5G will make drastic changes to how people operate and carry out their business on local as well as on global platforms. The technology will serve as fuel to the global economy and businesses by facilitating the creation of around 20-25 million jobs around the world till the year 2035. The global economy will also experience several types of issues, problems, and difficulties as the 5G technology will open up a new space of business that will replace the existing ones. It will facilitate and promote IoT-based applications and services as well as penetrate various MCS or Mission Critical Services in various sectors and industries ranging from production to hospitality, healthcare, and much more.

Mobile networks in today’s age as well as in the future tend to be a challenge due to various issues and problems that exist in mobile network technology. The technology of 5G as well as the global networks even if they are controlled or managed by their respective governments will consume relatively very less energy as well as enable a space of IoT controlled and enabled devices in sectors and fields such as smart meters, smart agriculture, connected cars, connected homes, AR, VR, automation, AI, logistics, and much more. The wireless networks will also offer the global economy enhanced and improved mobility, wider reach, improved scalability and flexibility, optimization, and much more (Greg, 2017).

Every generation of mobile networking has enabled the user experience by increasing the speed, accuracy, efficiency, and capacity of the high-end applications. The geographical expansion of wireless mobile networks in many parts of the world has led to an increment in the capacity of wireless mobile networking significantly. With the increasing usage of internet globally, the number of fifth-generation (5G)mobile networks has been estimated to reach 1.4 billion which is fifteen percent of total mobile network connections worldwide (Tobin, 2019).

The benefits of using 5G mobile networking technology chiefly include the rapid transfer of data, faster content delivery, higher level of network connectivity and capability, reduced lag time and no delay streaming, etc (Lawrence & Barnes, 2019). Furthermore, it is reliable (no drop of network calls) and faster than previous networks and it will help in lowering the latency of use. The use of 5G allows more compatibility with high-end applications connected via the internet of thing. The software-defined architecture of fifth-generation networking technology allows diversified business use by enabling dynamic programming for separate layers of each application. Moreover, to achieve diversified business objectives of different industries such as transportation, 5G will infiltrate the Internet of Things (IoT) to reach the status of the Internet of Everything (IoE).

The speed of fifth-generation network which has well over 2 Gbps will have a significant impact on the business such as Information technology-based firms, computer manufacturing companies, mobile device manufacturing companies, retail business organizations, advertising, and research organizations, etc (Kressel, & Lento, 2012). All these organizations need data to move faster, high-speed accessibility, handling of big data, and high level networking around the globe for communicating and delivering services and 5G networking will provide the solution for these issues.

The issues that can arise from doing business globally by using a wireless mobile network includes but not limited to security, local laws, and regulations related to telecommunications, data security, infrastructure (hardware and software) needed to go global, management policy, high data rates, mobility, service quality, and international restrictions, etc. Additionally, as 5G focuses on the integration of diversified technologies, it may act as a cohesive interconnected framework for providing seamless experience while using wireless mobile networks.
