Write an essay about three basic things that people must have to feel self-respect. In your thesis statement, name these three necessities and state that a person must possess them to feel self-respect.  Here are some items to consider:

a certain number of material possessions

a job

a loving family or a special person

a clear conscience

a feeling of belonging

In your supporting paragraphs, discuss the factors you have chosen, showing specifically why each is so important.  To avoid falling into the trap of writing generalities,  you may give examples of people who lack these necessities and show how such people lose self-respect.  Your examples may be drawn from personal experience, or they may be hypothetical.
