Strategy

The goal and objectives of the project is to demonstrate the effectiveness of the vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 virus to reduce vaccine hesitancy. Therefore, a public health strategy that can be used to improve the health of the population is patient financial incentives for preventative care. This strategy focuses on providing financial incentives to encourage individuals to take actions that will improve their health. Theory

A theory that could be used to support the selected strategy, as well as the goal and objectives of the project, is the social cognitive theory. The social-cognitive theory focuses on how individuals’ behaviors are influenced by observational factors. The social cognitive theory operates on the idea that an individual will observe another person’s behaviors (the model) and based on the consequences or the outcome of the action (positive or negative), the individual will start to emulate that behavior (Rural Health Information Hub, 2021).

Utilization of the theory and strategy

For example, by utilizing both the theory and the strategy, these two methods can be used to support the project by providing incentives to those who take the vaccine, which will motivate others to take the vaccine because they see other people getting rewarded to take the vaccine and no negative consequence is occurring. Therefore, this act would reduce vaccine hesitancy and thus, improve the health of the population through preventive care.
