Miami Dade College I Am a Killer Show Discussion Post

The purpose of this exercise is for you to learn about yourself and your perspectives on other people that may not readily be identifiable. Please apply your self-awareness and self-regulation to manage and influence your personal biases and values when working with diverse clients and constituencies.

During the first exercise, you examined how you were socialized into the core values that we share as social workers.

The goal of this next exercise is to examine the extent to which a culture’s structures and values may influence the lives of some people we will “meet” in a television show.

During Part I, you looked at how you were socialized to these concepts and how these values shape your life. Now, I want you to watch a program. You can find these on Netflix. If you do not have this streaming service, I suggest you find a partner in your group, and you can watch it together via Zoom.

Watch one episode of the show, I am a Killer.

Suggested Episodes:

  • Sympathy for the Devil (Season 1)
  • I Am A Killer: Hunted (Season 1)
  • Family Affair (Season I)
  • Overkill (Season 2)
