One way I have tried to stay up to date as a professional is by being part of professional nursing organizations. Currently, I am part of the ENA organization and received all publications. I bring them with me to work and when I have a break I usually read through the articles. Not to say I read all of them, but I will read through most of them that are of interest to me or our department. I find that this is an important practice to keep up with the most current trends for emergency nursing. There have been times when something is published and then we have the same problem arise and I can suggest solutions based on the publications. When I am done with the publication, I will leave it in the break room for others. I have also used articles as references for schoolwork. This strategy is making yourself available to the most up-to-date information.

Since entering this master’s program, my interest ispiqued about many other realms of nursing. Having access to the GCU Library for articles and books hasbeen incredible. Learning about translational research in general and the benefits it has been one of the most empowering aspects of nursing to date for me. Using this knowledge to search for potential solutions to problems will be invaluable.
