The Social-Ecological Model of Health and the Health belief Model would be very appropriate for my health issue. My health issue focuses on Cardiovascular disease and its risk factors. In addition, the (HBM) would be a good method to bring awareness, education on health promotion, nutrition and provide additional resources and strategies to live positive, healthier lifestyles within racial/minority ethnic populations. The Health belief model is appropriate because it can be implemented to guide health promotion and disease prevention programs (LaMorte, 2019). Moreover, the (HBM) helps foresee patterns in health behaviors and the (HBM) has been used to guide previous successful preventative interventions in cardiovascular health.

The Social-Ecological Model of Health theorizes health and focuses on several problems that might affect health. Because Cardiovascular has so many risk factors, this model would be most appropriate to support my project. The Social-Ecological Model is very broad and is used at many different levels such as individual, interpersonal, community, organizational, and policy to provide sustainable solutions for risk, health promotion, and community awareness (Poux, 2017). Moreover, the Social-Ecological Model of Health allows communities and individuals strategies on how to shape and influence healthy environments. Using a community-based process to drive interventions and community engagement on preventative methods and awareness using the Social Ecological Model can be very beneficial for the progression of my project.
