Our readings have emphasized how diverse networks within organizations sustain change, change that keeps organizations innovative and responsive. Linda Hill (2008) discussed the importance of “leading from behind” and how distributing leadership allows for leader emergence and collective genius.

In 2 pages please answer these 3 questions.

  • Explore the question and describe how your organization supports collective leadership. Why do you think this is important for your organization?
  • What strategies and outcomes have you observed that have fostered (or not) collective leadership?
  • How has this organizational behavior influenced organizational leadership and productivity?

Part B:Power of Networks in Introducing and Sustaining Change

In a brief paper, 3-4 pages, analyze existing networks within your department/organization. Explore how these social networks interconnect people throughout parts of your organization. Identify individuals within the network who are in a position to influence others–not because of positions alone but from their placement within the network and the resources they can distribute to others. Explore the strength of this collective leadership to generate innovation and sustain change. Draw upon allusions from our readings and the video to situate your thinking.
