Local churches have connections with other churches which is a benefit when trying to reach vulnerable communities and helps gain access to those in need. Churches and faith-based organizations also have great influence into policy making and legislation as well as rebuilding hospitals, disease prevention strategies, and reducing maternal and infant deaths with a great emphasis on reaching global health development goals (Powell, 2014, para. 1). FBOs and local churches utilize their congregation to implement a voice in their communities and network with other churches uniting for a common cause.

Challenges include that often times the local churches have been more invisible and not taken as seriously as legislation should. Also, some churches may not be fully aware of cultural practices and must work with churches from different faiths such as Muslims working with Catholics and Buddhists. The key challenge for each church member to incorporate mutual respect for opposing views and have a clear set of expectations as well as shared goal setting with leadership roles (Paltzer, n.d.).Goal setting, planning, and mutual respect helps FBOs to come together for the common good of those who need their help the most.Exposing weaknesses and praising strengths for each group will enhance the cooperation of local churches to reach the sustainable development goals.

I have made so many mistakes, but these mistakes have taught me to be more understanding and respectful of others. When Jesus was confronted with judgement of an adulterous woman and Jesus knew no sin, so He actually had the authority to condemn the woman, He knelt down and drew in the sand for a bit until He had utterly confused those who wanted to see her die for her sins. His words are written on the tablets of me heart (Proverbs 3:3). He stood up and stated, “Let him who has no sin cast the first stone” (John 8:7, NKJ). Jesus was the one who could’ve thrown the first stone, but He did not. He still does not throw stones at our sin. Instead, He gently leads us back to the Father. This example is how I have learned to model my actions. If Jesus forgives me, certainly I too can be forgiving of others.
