Grand Canyon University Continuous Quality Improvement Discussion
I’m working on a health & medical question and need guidance to help me learn.
please respond to the following discussion post as a peer making a comment. Continue quality improvement is defined as a progressive and incremental improvement of processes, safety, and patient care. (O’Donnell & Gupta, 2021). These are improvement processes that are programs within hospitals to address operational-process outcomes to improve the work environment and help reduce cost and improve quality. This CQI project will improve quality and is based on the principle that nothing is perfect and there always can be improvements, and we need to strive for that goal for our facility. Often, continuous quality improvement will have a plan in mind: cost reduction, decreased appointment times, reduced turnaround times for imaging results, and increased patient and staff safety. There are different strategies when making continuous quality improvements, like six Sigma and lean projects.
The problem identified for my assignment topic would be the stroke improvement program at our facility. The common goal of a CQI stroke project is for the door the needle time and to improve how to reach this goal better to acquire stroke accreditation. I identified issues within our facility with our continuous stroke goals that were not meeting the required matrix time. As a result, we are severely doing a disservice to our patients. Evaluating the data to get an overall picture of the outliers can give us a better example of continuously improving the stroke times at our facility. This program would provide patients with a better chance by enacting the thrombolytic treatment needed for stroke criteria. (Cho et al., 2014)
