Dentistry Yelp Dentist Review and Dentistry Action Plan Paper

Part 1

Fast forward to your last year( fourth year) of dental school. You are fully immersed in patient care in The Dental Center. You happen to notice a Yelp Review of yourself online written by one of your patients whom you have been seeing for over a year and have provided much dental care for. In fact, you have come to know each other very well. Now put yourself in that patient’s shoes and write the best Yelp review of yourself as a fourth-year dental student you could imagine this patient writing: the ideal, dream Yelp Review that would not only make you feel great but would inspire anyone who reads it to want to immediately come to be your patient as well.

Your review should be at least a paragraph long and include specifics, not just general praise. Think about what you would want your patient to say about you with regards to the following categories:

· Your appearance

· Your professional demeanor

· The quality of your dentistry

· Your communication skills

· Your knowledge and expertise

· Your level of caring

Include at least one sentence that starts with “For example…” to make sure you provide a specific instance that really wowed your patient. The review should clearly convey your patient’s feelings that they were lucky enough to be assigned to the best dental student in the world: a World-class dentist in the making!

Part 2

Create a three-year action plan (meaning your time in dental school) for how to achieve such a glowing Yelp Review. Your action plan should have 6 parts; one for each of the 6 pillars of professionalism. For each pillar, describe how you will incorporate the concept of that pillar into your professional dental education and training that would eventually lead to your awesome Yelp Review. For example, if the patient wrote that you “took the time to explain their treatment and answer all their questions” your action plan under the pillar of Communication might be: “I will rehearse how to explain complex treatments to patients in language they can understand and make sure I always conclude with “What questions about your treatment can I answer for you?”

NOTE : The six pillars of professionalism are:

1-Competence: Acquiring and maintaining the high level of special knowledge, technical ability, and professional behavior necessary for the provision of clinical care to patients and for effective functioning in the dental education environment.

2-Fairness: Demonstrating consistency and even-handedness in dealings with others.

3-Integrity: Being honest and demonstrating congruence among one’s values, words, and actions.

4-Responsibility: Being accountable for one’s actions and recognizing and acting upon the special obligations to others that one assumes in joining a profession.

5-Respect: Honoring the worth of others.

6- Service-Mindedness: Acting for the benefit of the patients and the public we serve and approaching those served with compassion.
