Interview 1: Verbally interview an adult rural dweller who lives in, or near, a
community of 5,000 people or less. Interview questions must include the following, but
can be expanded on if desired:
 How long have you lived in a rural area?
 Why do you live in a rural area?
 Do you work in your community – why or why not?
 What are the best things about living in a rural area?
 What are the challenges living in a rural area?
 If you had to put into words what health means to you, how would you describe it?
 How would you describe the health services available to you? Are they easy to
access? Do you have the services you need?
Interview 2: Verbally interview a nurse who lives in, or near, a community of 5,000

 Do you work as a nurse in your community – why or why not?
 Whether or not you work as a nurse in your community, what are the best things
about being a nurse in a rural area?
 Whether or not you work as a nurse in your community, what are the challenges
about being a nurse in a rural area?
 How do you feel rural dwellers would define what health is?
 How would you describe the health services available to your community? Are they
easy to access? Are the services available that are needed? See Appendex D for the rubric
