For three of the guest speakers presentations, complete a journal entry on Canvas, using the guidelines
below.
1. Research the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Website, any applicable dietetic practice group
websites, and/or other relevant resources to determine responsibilities of a registered dietitian
working in the featured area of practice. Discuss your findings.
2. Research the facility’s website, if available, to determine unique characteristics about the site.
Include number of possible patients, type of facility, services offered, and number of registered
dietitians on staff. If available, include this in your paper.
3. Include in your research or ask the dietitian during the field trip about the roles of others with whom
the he/she collaborates and how they work together.
4. After each visit, type up personal observations about the experience including what you observed
that makes the facility unique, what you learned about the particular field of practice, what you can
see yourself applying in the future, and your overall impressions. Give this section a good deal of
thought. Is this an area of dietetics in which you can see yourself practicing in the future? Why or
why not? What was the take home message?
5. Cite at least two sources (including the facility website) following the Journal of the Academy of
Nutrition and Dietetics citation style. Wikipedia is NOT acceptable as a reference.
Journal entries must be uploaded onto Canvas by the beginning of class the week after the field
trip/presentation, unless otherwise indicated.
