Norfolk State University Health and Medical Conditions of Older Adults Questions

I’m working on a health & medical project and need an explanation to help me understand better.

The purpose of this project is to have the student hold an informal conversation/interview with an older adult (over 65 years of age) in order to learn about their physical health, attitudes toward exercise, and current exercise habits. Perhaps, the most important objective of this task is to give the student an opportunity for successful interaction with an older individual. The conversation should be a minimum of 5 minutes. Pictures with voice clips or video clips must be submitted in order to receive credit. This conversation should start out general (sample questions provided below), asking questions about family, life, and then move on to specific questions regarding fitness activities, health, and attitudes toward exercise. You may generate your own questions; however, I encourage you to have a natural genuine conversation of interest while remaining open to discussing various aspects of life.

Conversation Starter Questions:

  • What are some of the most important lessons you feel you have learned over the course of your life?
  • Some people say that they have had difficult or stressful experiences but they have learned important lessons from them. Is that true for you? Can you give examples of what you learned?
  • As you look back over your life, do you see any “turning points”; that is, a key event or experience that changed over the course of your life or set you on a different track?
  • What’s the secret to a happy marriage?
  • What are some of the important choices or decisions you made that you have learned from?
  • What would you say you know now about living a happy and successful life that you didn’t know when you were twenty?
  • What would you say are the major values or principles that you live by?
