  1. Carbohydrates are abundant in nature and yield energy when eaten. Simple carbohydrate as monosaccharides and disaccharides  come in different forms and have specific functions.  Why is complex carbohydrate the preferred type of carbohydrate?
  2. Fats are twice the caloric value of carbohydrates and protein and are insoluble in water. Both plants and animals are sources of fats. List five food sources each of saturated fats, unsaturated fat, and polyunsaturated fats. Which type of fat is useful in reducing heart disease? Why?
  3. Create a table or list with 5 sources of complete proteins and 5 sources of incomplete proteins.
  4. Is protein the preferred source of fuel for the body? Explain your response using 2 sentences.
