  • Introduction: Define the purpose of the paper along with the operational definitions. Provide/design a case study, see sample above in the directions. Define the patient’s diagnosis and provide a short introduction regarding the prevalence and significance of the problem (substantiate with citations). Specify the therapeutic objective: What is the goal of your therapy?
  • Body of the Paper: Provide a Lit Review on recommended treatment/guidelines, if any, on this condition. The references must be most current and form reputable peer-reviewed sources. Make an inventory of effective groups of drugs. Identify the classes of drugs (at least 3 classes of drugs) that could be used for treatment of this condition and compare these in terms of their efficacy, safety, suitability and cost (Cite your sources). What type of drug will you prescribe based on your patient’s diagnosis? Choose a drug to treat your patient and state why you have chosen this drug. List the active substance in the drug, how much of the drug should the patient receive? How often should the drug be administered? What is the standard dose schedule? What is the duration of treatment with this drug? Are there individual patient factors that could create complications when taking the drug? Should you be prescribing drugs to this patient? (Think about accountability as well as the ethical and legal obligation to “do no harm.” It is important that you are aware of the current professional, legal and ethical standards for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses [APRNs] with prescriptive authority.)
