CCC Personal Experience Suffering In Pain and Discomfort Patient Interview
Patient Interview
ask your interviewee what they would like present or future health care providers to know about treating someone with their condition – something they would like you to share with the class to help future patients like them.
This “insiders perspective” insight could be about their condition, its treatment, or their personal experience as a human being who is suffering or in pain/discomfort.
1) Briefly & succinctly state your interviewee’s message to the class from their lived illness experience. State it in a few sentences (this post may be short).
Go ahead and post – then,
2) Read some other posts by your colleagues in this class. Choose posts from 2 other students which stood out to you as useful or true, to respond to with your own comments.
Again, these posts can be short –
Do you agree with their comment ? Why or why not ?
Did this comment fit with what you learned form your interviewee or your own experience ? Or was it different, even opposite ?
What does this mean for you if you were working in the future with patients who have serious or chronic conditions, whether in a health care setting, in a community setting, or even in a lab or environmental intervention setting ?
Post #1My interviewee stressed on the importance of maintaining the right attitude while dealing with patients. She highlighted that people who go through difficult times could be experiencing high levels of stress so being patient and kind to them will go a long way. In addition, my interviewee shared that her lifestyle and habits certainly played a big factor in her condition. She shared that she had to change her diet as her primary doctor advised her to do. Therefore, she found herself having to eat healthier foods such as fruits and vegetables while lessening her soda and alcohol intake because healthy diet is important for someone who has hypertension and is a prediabetic. She wants to encourage everyone to take care of themselves and their health. Post #2The message regarding the person I interviewed is establish a strong attention to detail and exhibit empathy towards others. There were many times when the VA Hospital made an error which causes them to reschedule, sometimes it lasts as long as 2 months or more. This results in prolonged exposure to pain and discomfort of life, for the people working at the VA they don’t understand that you have to go home dealing with more suffering while this all could have been easily avoided. It makes the patient feel like they are nothing, and it is okay to treated poorly. By constantly making mistakes and exhibiting lack of regard towards others, the issues only become worse.
