IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING WORD LIMIT REQUIREMENTS:

Please note that each and every assignment has its own word limit.

A community leader is identified by their leadership style, character, and qualities. Some examples of types of community leaders in public health includes those in federal, state, and local government levels. For example, on the HHS.gov website, the Secretary Deputy Secretary Chief of Staff is over the Executive Secretariat (ES) and the Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs (IEA). The Exec Sec works with other federal agencies to coordinate analysis of, and input on, public health, healthcare and human service policy decisions impacting HHS activities. The IEA aims to enhance communication and partnerships with local, state, and tribal governments as well as a variety of external partners such as, academia, private sector, labor unions, profit and not-for point groups, and national organizations (HHS, 2021). IEA works to create health policies at all levels of government for support and healthcare change.

Characteristics of effective community leadership that is utilized at my practicum site include qualities of success leader such as that of integrity, commitment, care for others and flexibility (Leadership and Management ToolKit). The CEO, DOO, and other leaders within the organization influence, motivate, and enables the entire team to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of the organization to improve the treatment and health outcomes of patients in which they serve.
