Community-based corrections can be a place where human services can be provided. There has been a steady rise in crime, which means that prisons and jails are in greater need of assistance. It is critical to offer assistance to those who are incarcerated. Helping those in prison and their families learn problem-solving, coping and how to be self-sufficient is the goal of the wraparound services (Woodside & McClam, 2019). Home detention and community work crews are two examples of these services. Clients are learning new skills, improving their communication with others, and integrating ongoing support for those in need thanks to technology. Many human service professionals are given cell phones and pagers so that they can be available at all times, which also encourages good communication. New technology-based programs have been developed to assist clients in gaining access to the internet and encouraging new skills. The aging of the American population is one of the most significant demographic trends of the 21st century (Woodside & McClam, 2019). As they get older, many elderly people have been through a lot and need extra assistance. Some people have lost their spouses and are on their own. Many people over the age of 65 are unable to work full-time due to a lack of funds, so they are turning to part-time employment as a last resort. Some people are unable to work because of serious health issues, which can lead to financial hardship. If you’ve already lost most of your family members, you’re on your own. However, I believe that this is a growing trend, and I believe that the senior population is having a difficult time keeping up with the latest technology. The more you know about how to help them, the better. Keep up-to-date on these issues so that you can be more effective as a supporter. We need to keep up with the latest trends and developments in order to grow and succeed in our efforts to help others. Staying up to date on the latest developments and enhancing our knowledge is a good idea. We must learn to adapt and be ready for the inevitable changes that will occur in our lives. Observing trends that predict the future of work as well as imagining what the new job opportunities will look like is essential (Woodside & McClam, 2019).

The one setting for human service delivery that I can give is schools. There are so many controversial topics that are happening within in the school systems. You have things like teens getting pregnant, shootings, gang activity, and the use of drugs. I believe that if anytime human services are needed, the time would be now. The problem is that students have a hard time learning because the teachers are distracted and terrified of the activities that are going on around them. According to (Woodside & McClam, 2019), systems of care are services that support families and their children. This is very important because students will be able to properly learn because teachers won’t be distracted be the outside activity. 

When you think of technology, it is everywhere you look. It is that very same technology that helps up when we go to work, school, participate in regular activities, and makes our lives more easier. Looking at technology and how is can help within human services, it offers many great things. It makes things less complicated by helping to keep things like patient appointments and medicine in order. It also is great because it can help the human service worker build on their knowledge and skills of their profession. 

One trend being discussed in the human services field is health is the lack of resources. The lack of resources is a growing trend that continues to be a problem within communities and throughout the world. If someone is not culturally competent and aware of the help that is around them, they would not know where to turn. I think creating more programs within the communities is one way this can be solved, which is going to take great effort from community and health workers. To many people are suffering in silence, and the more awareness there is, the more I think people will speak up. We just want to let people know as much as possible, that there is help out there. 

So why should human service professionals stay informed about these issues in their role as helpers? They need to stay informed about these issues because things are changing every day. If they are not “in the loop” with what’s going on around them, then they won’t be able to make the necessary adjustments to help others.
