- How can organizations such as Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) assist nurses in their lifelong learning journey
Two discussion replies
1. Professor:
What effective and realistic ways do you (or could you) use as a daily learning opportunity that would not hinder your daily life? (this is an additional question the professor posted that counts as a discussion reply.)
2. Monica (respond to her with reference):
Why is it important for nurses to commit to lifelong learning in relation to patients, organizations, and self?
It is important to commit to lifelong learning in relation to patients, organizations, and self because the field of nursing is always evolving and changing. “As we build upon our capabilities as professional nurses, we will positively influence transformation of global health” (Catrambone, 2021). Lifelong learning can lead to continuous new discoveries in the healthcare field and finding ways to better improve our care for patients. It can also result in having the best possible health outcomes in patients. As for ourselves, commitment to lifelong learning helps us become a better nurse and has us continue to learn new ways to improve our patient care. Within the healthcare system, many things are done electronically now, so making sure we stay up to date on how to use the newest technology in the health field is also beneficial, not just for us and the patient, but for the interdisciplinary team to ensure everyone has access to important patient information in order to give the best care.
How can organizations such as Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) assist nurses in their lifelong learning journey?
An organization such as Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) can assist nurses in their lifelong learning journey through having weekly newsletters that would consist of any new findings in research or updated information in the health field. STTI can also do conferences or meeting biannually to keep its members kept up to date with new research and best nursing practice. One of STTI’s focus is to influence lifelong learning, so it is important that they have some steps in place to try and make it possible for health care workers to continue their education and to strive to keep learning.
