There are two management or leadership strategies that can be used when fostering a public and private partnership and they trust in the leaders and transparency. It is important that leaders establish trust when trying to foster public and private partnerships. For example, according to Sadeghi et al (2016), they noted that trust is an important factor in forming a partnership and can be easily dismantled if someone in a leadership position like a president will openly promise something to the public/private, then have another leader promise something completely different. This will cause confusion, internal conflict with the leader’s team (followers), and a lack of trust in our leader (Sadeghi et al., 2016).

The public and private sectors in the public health field differ in terms of planning and implementing policies. Therefore, transparency is a strategy that both sectors must exhibit for the partnership to work. Therefore, an outline of the action plan must be developed and shared between both sectors, equality in the task that is assigned, and accountability must be taken for the partnership to be successful. Furthermore, whenever a challenge or barrier arises, both sectors must work together openly to solve the issue. For example, if an issue arises, it should be both sectors collaborating together equally or by compromising to implement the new policy, and not one sector taking on the full responsibility or recognition for the implemented policies (Sadeghi et al., 2016).

An example of an existing public/private partnership that you think is successful

An example of an existing public/private partnership is private health insurance. For example, the government will outline the rules and regulations on the healthcare policies and the private companies will follow that rule and maintain the policy. The reason why I think this partnership is successful is that, although it is cheaper to use government-funded insurance, when these individuals have dependents, it becomes more complicated having public health insurance. For example, public insurance like Medicare only allows one dependent, whereas private health insurance will allow more than one dependent (De Pietro, 2021).
