The Signature Assignment is designed as a final project capping off your learning and comprehension of the course.

Using the concepts and framework of strategic planning and management, you will perform an environmental analysis, assess strategic priorities, and develop appropriate strategies and an action plan for a healthcare organization.

Strategy is about making choices and evaluating trade-offs. Healthcare organizations operate in a very diverse environment, serving culturally diverse customers/patients and employing just as culturally diverse a workforce. What is “right” for one organization may not be right for another. Making the “right” choices and trade-offs is a challenge that healthcare administrators routinely have to undertake.

The final product of the Signature Assignment is a strategic plan with an executive summary, environmental analysis, strategic goals, objectives, measurements, and an action plan. There are three (3) parts of the Signature Assignment:

Part II is due on FRIDAY of Week 8

This week you will:

  • Review the case  (attached)
  • Based on the environmental analysis in Part I, what would you recommend to Mary Ann Lewis? Briefly explain your rationale (0.5–1 page)
  • If you recommend the CEO to move forward, develop a strategic plan and an implementation/action plan as outlined below.

Strategic plan (2–2.5 pages)

  • Strategic goals (at least two, one of which should focus on how to meet the needs of culturally diverse patients and compete in a culturally diverse environment)
  • Strategic objectives (at least two objectives per goal; use SMART  (attached)
  • Measurement

Implementation/action plan (2–2.5 pages)

  • What needs to be done when and by whom.
  • If you do NOT recommend the CEO to move forward, develop an alternative strategic plan that would help MANC grow (an endowment from Mr. Nguyen will not be available) and an implementation/action plan as outlined below.

Alternative strategic plan (2–2.5 pages)

  • Strategic goals (at least two, one of which should focus on how to meet the needs of culturally diverse patients and compete in a culturally diverse environment)
  • Strategic objectives (at least two objectives per goal; use SMART attached)
  • Measurement

Implementation/action plan (2–2.5 pages)

  • What needs to be done when and by whom
