In accordance with the Educational Administration Quarterly, principals who are social justice advocates practice their influence by narrowing down on people in an effort to build a socially just community. The article covered twenty-two elementary and secondary school principals that were interviewed in the Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Published in 2018, with sixty references the article focuses on the practice to put the students at the center as the social justice leader, investing and developing people for social justice, building schools climate through social justice, and creating positive relationships with families and communities. The article is quite lengthy with twenty-eight pages, but it does go into a great detail on how to navigate different ways to use their powers for the well-being of their students. It also goes deeper into the understanding of social justice leadership. It is also important for nursing as this is the communities we are living in and these students could or are our patients.

According to the Applied Nursing Research, The Roy Adaptation Theory may serve as a guide in the development and evaluation of a hospital-based program designed to support the needs of the healthcare team. The article offers the effectiveness of the Tea for the Soul Program to address the current needs of nurses employed in the hospital setting. The article was written in 2020 which is very current to the situation of Covid-19 and the nurses well-being effectiveness in the healthcare field. With forty-two references, the article was able to show a lot of examples on the adaptation theory related to the burn-out of nurses during the epidemic. The article was not very long, with only five pages, but it went into great detail on how to support the nurses through the adaptation theory.

Discussion 2: Allison- Annotated Bibliography

(Browning) Callis, A. M. (2020). Application of the roy adaptation theory to a care program for nurses. Applied Nursing Research, 56, 151340. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apnr.2020.151340

This article was written by Annette M. Callis PhD, RN, CNS in 2020 and cites forty-two reputable resources. It discusses the importance of integrating the Roy Adaption Theory into care programs for nurses. The argument is based on the evidence of increasing physical, emotional, and mental stress during the time of a global pandemic. Now more than ever, we need to focus on balancing the biological, psychological, and social well-being of our nurses. This article also goes on to link better self-care of nurses to improved outcomes among our patients. In conclusion, this article did find that implementing programs that focus on the individual needs of a nurse within the workplace did effectively improve their overall well-being. I am in support of the stance that this article takes and agree that there should be a well thought out plan for the health of our nurses so they are better able to care for patients and combat issues like moral distress, compassion fatigue and burnout.

Wantonoro. (2020). Health promotion and exercise planning older person with post-stroke; Roy’s Adaptation Theory approach: a protocol. International Journal of Caring Sciences, 13(2), 1509. https://doi.org/1516

This article was written by Wantonoro, BSN, MSN, PhD, RN in 2020 and cites thirty-two reputable sources. It discusses implementing health promotion and exercising planning that is based off Roy’s Adaptation Theory in individuals who are post-stroke. The study concluded that focusing on both the physical and psychosocial domains of an individual results in better outcomes in one’s recovery after experiencing a stroke. This study used a program that incorporated exercise, group meetings, one on one nurse evaluations and patient teaching/coaching. The study showed increase in strength, muscle tone, endurance, quality of life and confidence. There also showed an improvement in vital signs as well. I am in support of the evidence presented in this article. Recovery from stroke can be quite challenging for an individual and I too believe that implementing a multifaceted recovery program would be highly beneficial to the patient.
