As you know the last major assignment in this course is the Final essay. Although the due-date for this final essay is still a few weeks away it would benefit you to start thinking about it at this point. For this final essay I will ask that you select a topic on your own again (related to a specific theme, concept, or idea that we have covered since the midterm), however, the topic must differ from the one you selected for the midterm essay. Also instead of being 4 pages in length, this final essay should be 5 pages (minimum) in length, with a minimum of 5 high-quality sources. This essay must be an argumentative essay. All of the other requirements (relating to formatting) for the midterm will also be applied to the final essay.
An argumentative essay is one in which the central “thrust” of the essay is an “argument.” An argument is a collection of statements that, when they work together, try to prove something. The statements that work together to provide support for the claim that are defending are called premises. The conclusion is the statement that the premises provide support for.
