POST 1

Pontiac describes the relationship between the Native Americans and British as opposite of what is excepted of them. The Master of Life understood how the Children of the Father worked with the Native Americans to supply various goods and services, however, he also believed that they brought evil such as guns and powder that were changing their way of living. Pontiac’s goal in this speech was to give an insight to the Native American beliefs as well as give another perspective to the Indian-European relationship. There was no inclusion of the Native Americans after the Treaty of Paris in 1763, and Pontiac wanted to give his audience a front row to the story behind the foundation of Native Americans and their faith. Non natives negatively affected the life of Native Americans. They aided the Native Americans by meeting their demand of supplies, but they also caused them to stray from how they lived before the Europeans arrived. The Master of Life completely disapproved of the Europeans, and expressed a discontent with how some of the “Children of your Father”came to bring trouble to the Native Americans. He reminded the Native Americans who the land was created for and how the Native Americans had since started living differently by taking up adultery, evil manifestations and fighting amongst their own people.
