In class, we have discussed the ways that social institutions, or macro-level factors, impact the lives of individuals and families. In this assignment, you will analyze how such factors impact your own family’s experience.

The assignment should include the following:

1.Tell the story of your family. You should include at least two, preferable three or more generations. Write about family size, occupations, where your family lives and has lived, social characteristics (race, class, gender, ethnicity, etc.), and relationships with each other.

2.Identify and discuss at least 3 macro-level factors that have impacted your family. Be as specific and detailed as possible.

Your paper should be approximately 3-4 pages in length and will be graded on:

The depth and effort of your analysis

The clarity of your writing

The clarity and organization of your essay

Proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc.
