Written Assignment 2: Theoretical Approach

Discuss a theory of group therapy that best describes your theoretical orientation to group therapy and which you believe facilitates change in group members. Explain why your theory is preferable to you compared to other theories.

Make sure to include the following information in your group theory paper:

• Identify and describe the theory or theories that influence your work as a group counselor.
• If more than one theory influences you, describe how you integrate the elements into your own theory.
• Explain, from your theoretical standpoint, how it is that psychological problems develop.
• Explain, from your theoretical standpoint, how it is that psychological problems are remediated.
• Describe the role of group process within your theoretical framework..

Remember that per the departmental grading rubric, at least three scholarly journals must be used (most strong papers will require several more). In addition, your paper must be in APA format (one-inch margins, double spaced), 4-6 double spaced pages for the body, APA style Section Headings, and a reference page.
