In this discussion, please attach a PDF of the job posting you will use as a target to help you develop your resume and cover letter. Remember that this job posting should be a job you are currently qualified for. It can be an internship, entry-level position, or any other job you feel you could be successful in now.

Using Joe Schall’s Preparing Job Materials: Reading Job Ads as a lens, create a table or chart with one column that outlines the qualifications and experiences described in the job posting and another column that shows what skills, qualifications, or experiences you have that fit with what the employer is looking for. Include this chart in the body of your post.

Finally, write a  paragraph that analyzes the rhetorical situation you will be participating in when you write your resume and cover letter. Consider the following: 

1. Audience: Who are you writing to? What do you know about the company, the job, and the recruiters that might help you to be more persuasive in your resume and cover letter?
2. Purpose: What is the purpose of the documents? To inform? To persuade? Something else? What tools or techniques can you deploy in your resume and cover letter to help you achieve this purpose?
3. Context: What is going on the industry that might determine how you choose to persuade your audience? Are there any current events that might influence the hiring manager or recruiter who is reviewing your documents? In what context are these documents likely to be read? In an office? On screen? How might this influence how you choose to craft these documents?
