Hello,

I’m writing a hypothetical research paper and will be using a correlational research design. My hypothetical study is being done to see if a relationship exists between mental illness and substance abuse. I’ve already decided that data will be collected using surveys but cannot figure out how it should be recorded or analyzed or the instrumentation to be used. Is the instrumentation to be used the type of survey that will be administered? I think I should use the chi-square test for the data analysis but am not sure if that would be the appropriate statistical test. Thankfully I don’t actually have to perform any kind of statistical analysis but I must explain why the method of analysis I performed is appropriate.

The following is what I need to include in my report:

Methods: Data Collection Describes how data will be collected, recorded, and analyzed, as well as the instrumentation to be used

Methods: Data Analysis Clearly describes the data analysis methods to be used in the study

I’m completely lost, any help would be greatly appreciated!
