Assignment: Creating an Outline for the Literature Review

The literature review is an organized synthesis of the current research literature about your Capstone topic/problem. This assignment will help you organize your resource information by themes, which is a necessary step toward writing the actual literature review.

To Prepare

• Review the Learning Resource materials for this week.
• Review your Week 3 Literature Review Matrix.
• Open the Learning Resource document “Literature Review Thematic Outline.”

Assignment

• Using your Literature Review Matrix (completed in Week 3), create an outline by listing each separate theme under the Matrix heading: “What are the main ideas or themes from this article?” Follow the instructions in the Literature Review Thematic Outline document in the Learning Resources.

Note: You may find that you want additional resources about a certain theme or you need more resources, on point, about your topic. Therefore, you may need to search for additional peer-reviewed sources.
