The Increase of Virtual Therapy Sessions Discussion

I’m studying for my Psychology class and need an explanation.

Question #1: In this weeks readings, we read about establishing boundaries to maintain professionalism. In the reading it mentions that “during the counselling session, you are to make yourself wholly available to the client, it is neither healthy nor advisable to make yourself available to your clients all the time.” I’ve heard that “Better Help” is a virtual therapy session that also allows clients to message their therapists about things they may be interested in talking about in their next session. Do you think that this a good way to stay in contact with clients when they are outside of the session but still maintains professional boundaries? Why or why not?

Question #2: I read that in the first couple years of working in our profession we tend to say “Yes” to everything. We are excited for the exited for the experience, exposure, and we want to seem like “team players;” however this may lead to over extension and potential burnout one day.

How do you plan to prevent this from happening? I know I have been guilty of this too so I am curious about what you all will do when you are out in the field.
