I’m working on a english question and need guidance to help me learn.

Before you start writing, find an advertisement for a product or service you have purchased. (This is important because you will later need to evaluate the product or service, which you can’t do if you’ve never purchased it.) The advertisement can be a static image or a commercial. Start off your paper by either posting an image of the advertisement at the top of the document or by posting a link to the commercial advertisement on YouTube or another similar site. Then, begin writing the introduction to your essay.

Describe your ad using elements of “showing” and “telling” as you learned in Unit 1. First, show by describing your ad in vivid detail; these are the elements of the ad that you will later analyze. Then, tell by summarizing the ad’s main selling points; these will serve as evaluation criteria later in the body of the paper. Also be sure to determine any other criteria by which you want to evaluate the subject of the ad that might not be mentioned in the ad (for instance, price might not be mentioned in the ad but may still be a major factor in your evaluation). Finally, in your thesis statement, you should establish your final verdict of the product: does it live up to the expectations set forth in the ad? Do you recommend it to your audience? (You can have a mixed opinion or a conditional recommendation).
