For this post, I want you to read Brown and Bean’s article on the  different types of immigration models. Which model best explains the  experiences of immigrants today? Use current examples in your analysis  (ex: travel ban, mass deportation, immigrant industrial complex).

The model that best explains immigrants today is the segmented assimilation model, as it describes advantages, disadvantages, and waning results. It seems like the more accurate model to me because it takes in to account the varying pathways to assimilation, and although it does not account for the results of second generation immigrants just yet, I think the results will be accurate to this theory as well. Due to discrimination, there is no guarantee of upward mobility, and depending on appearance and perception not all will be able to consider the same results even if they qualify the same.
