PSYC 6393R WU Wk 3 Synthesis of Research Information & Background Knowledge Discussion
Synthesizing is organizing the information across multiple references and writing about it by theme. Do not confuse synthesis with summary. These are very different writing processes. A summary is a description of the ideas of one resource. In a literature review, the information presented is a synthesis, not a summary, therefore it is important to understand the difference.
To Prepare
- Review the Learning Resource materials for this week.
- Review your literature review matrix assignment from Week 3 and note the themes that you identified from each resource.
Post a description of synthesizing information. In your own words, explain what synthesis is and how it differs from summarizing information.
