Substance Use Disorder Assignment

In this assignment you may work individually or with a partner in the class. You will have the option of creating the following assignments:

1. Choose one of the 10 drug categories and create a public awareness ad video aimed at prevention of use among teens (up to 2 minutes long).
2. Create a brochure of information on 2-3 drugs that would promote public awareness of risks and treatment options.
3. Choose 2-3 drugs and create a Piktochart of information on the use disorder targeting a certain age group.

Some ideas on how to submit your assignment

Choose a way to focus your project. Here are some ideas:

• Focus on a particular age group, e.g. elementary-aged children, middle school, high schoolers, young adults (18-24), or parents of these populations,
• Identify the reasons a person might develop a substance use disorder
• The connection between substance use and academic performance, or some other research-based connection (as demonstrated in literature)

• Services available for the treatment of specific use disorders in the U.S.
• Body Image and Substance Use
• The connection between the media and substance use
