I’m working on a sociology question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

Try to locate yourself in the Socioeconomic Status (SES) hierarchy and then try to gain insight into how your position has provided you with advantages (or disadvantages) throughout your lifetime. In other words, would you place yourself in the Upper class, Upper-Middle, Lower-Middle, Working, or Lower class?  What advantages or disadvantages have you had to deal with throughout your life?  Did it have an impact on your decision to attend college, or to attend IUPUI in particular?  What are the attitudes within your family concerning whether or not you attend college?

Education is the #1 factor when it comes to helping someone improve their SES.  That said, what struggles affect the poor, particularly in terms of the ability of poor people to improve their lives through education?
