Palm Beach State College Wk4 Morality in Children or Adolescents Discussion

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review the Learning Resources.
  • Select an immoral behavior of children or adolescents. Suggested topics include but are not limited to bullying, cyberbullying, fighting, aggression, cheating, and crime.
  • Review contemporary news sources to find a recent event (within the last year) highlighting the behavior you have chosen.
  • Consider the factors that might have contributed to the behavior, and ways to address the behavior.
  • Using the Walden Library, locate 1-2 peer-reviewed articles focusing on factors contributing to the occurrence of or treatment of immoral behavior.
  • A description of the event and the immoral behavior described in the article you selected.
  • An explanation of the factors that may have contributed to the immoral behaviors presented in the article.
  • A description of two interventions you might use to positively influence moral development in the individual(s) who participated in the event.
  • Justification of your responses with references to this week’s Learning Resources and 1–2 peer-reviewed articles from the past 5 years.
  • Suggestion outline:
  • Suggested Outline for this DiscussionIntroduction (no heading)In this section, provide a brief overview of the topic of morality from a developmental perspective. Focus on any specifics relevant to the age of the individuals in your new article. Provide resources such as the text or assigned articles to support general observations about the importance of this aspect of development.Description of event and immoral behaviorYou are to find an article (from a major online news outlet) that discusses an event that highlights an immoral behavior in children or adolescents. You do not want to only pick an article that discusses immoral behavior in a general sense, but rather discusses a specific instance of the behavior. In this way, you are using the event as a case study of sorts. Please be sure to use an article about an event that highlights immoral behavior, such as bullying, cyberbullying, gang activity or other major crime, etc. The post should be based on an actual event that took place and can easily be found through a search of news sources as mentioned in the directions. Remember to provide proper citations and links to the resource in your references.Factors contributing to immoral behaviorHere your focus is on the perpetrator(s) of the immoral behavior rather than those impacted. You want the focus to be on understanding moral development as discussed in the B&B text and analyzing the event from the news article you selected. Make sure you are supporting your position thoroughly with information from all you’ve read this week.InterventionsHere you describe interventions that could foster the moral development of the person engaging in the immoral behavior. Be sure to really consider the individual(s) who engaged in the immoral behavior your article highlights. You want your interventions to be specific to them and to their moral development. Again, support your work with peer-reviewed resources.ReferencesInclude B&B text, news article, and at least 1-2 selected peer-reviewed journal articles.
